The Carriage House, Kent
Please read the article (by Conservation News) for further information and photographs. A former 1800’s stable and carriage house, left neglected and close to collapse. At the request of the client, specialist Architects (Clague Architect) engaged A.T.Palmer (Builders & Contractors) Ltd. We specialise in historic building, conservation and restoration. Our workforce are highly skilled and trained in traditional crafts using traditional materials, carpenters, groundworkers, decorators and bricklayers – one brick layer had painstakingly taken up the cobbled floor, cleaned the cobbles and replaced it back to its former glory. Specialist joinery using Oak to create a stunning staircase. Some original fittings, the metal horse feeders, were cleaned and restored and put back on the walls within the entrance as a reminder of what the building was formerly, as this restoration is now a gym, office, kitchenette, shower room/toilet and storage.
